Ever get that feeling that you might just not be applying your products correctly or that you have been focusing on the wrong area of your face? We all do, this is very common and there is no need to be embarrassed.
Here are a few common make up mishaps and how to avoid repeating these in the future!
Testing shades on your hand
This really is a big no-no. .
Your hands are a completely different skin tone to your face so always test your shade on your jawline and if it blends in nicely with your neck then you have a winning shade.
Choosing the wrong formula
With so many formulations on the market this is a very easy mistake to make. It is really important to choose the right formulation for your skin type.
Here’s a little handy guide to help you out.
Normal to Dry Skin – Creams, Sticks, Mousse and Tinted Moisturiser
Oily Skin – Cream to Powder and Mineral Powder
All Skin Types – Liquid (liquid is always your best formulation option)
Applying too much product
When applying your foundation, it can be very easy to be a little heavy handed. Keep in mind that your foundation should have a natural looking coverage and not be a hard and heavy mask. When applying – start down the centre of your face and blend outwards. Avoid applying foundation directly around the hairline as it just won’t blend.
Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!
Did we say that loudly enough? Always allow enough time for your daily moisturiser to absorb into your skin before applying your foundation. Why? Applying without giving your moisturiser ample time to skin in will cause an uneven and greasy effect.
