AT Stylehunter HQ we are kind of obsessed with skin care, hair care, face care, you name it. While we're constantly trialling and testing new ways to enhance our skin and hair, we couldn't get past our latest discovery:
We were pleasantly surprised to come across The Goat Skincare, an easy find in Priceline, Amcal and Terry White Chemists alike. Proudly owned and made in Australia, the Goat Skincare, is created with permeate free ethically farmed goats milk which provided powerful benefits and nourishment to your skin.
Since everything goats milk seems to be proven to benefit your health and body these days (cue goats milk, goats cheese, goats yoghurt) we had to give it a try.
The Goat Skincare products are made with pure ingredients and free of parabens, sulphates or harsh chemicals that strip the skin of its natural oils. This is key when looking for the right shampoo, because the last thing you want is a shampoo that strips the natural oils of your sculp and leaves your hair dull and dry (say hello to dandruff).
My hair is quite thick, so I found I needed to apply the shampoo 3 times to really get it to do it's thing. Two washes is probably more than fine if you're washing your hair every couple of days.
If you are accustom to using hair care products from the supermarket shelves, it might be a bit of a shock when first using The Goat Skincare Shampoo. Don't be concerned if your shampoo doesn't lather as much as you're used to. There is a common belief that if your shampoo foams a lot, it's giving your hair a better clean. This is a total myth, many brands simply include specific ingredients to make shampoo foam more - it actually does nothing to clean, protect or enhance your hair!
Let me just start by saying that I take conditioner very
seriously. I know there are some people out there that don't even include conditioner in their hair care routine, but my hair is unfortunately a victim of colour, and therefore I need all the moisture I can get.
Previously when I've use conditioner I've tried to use a small amount (because I hear you're only supposed to use a walnut sized dollop) however I end up applying more because it's not enough to smooth and detangle my hair. With the Goat Skincare conditioner, I found a little went a long way.
Always squeeze as much water out of your hair before applying conditioner. Conditioner is a moisturising agent, and just like anything else that gives moisture (oils, serums) it can't absorb as well against water.
If you're hair is naturally dry or dry from colour, you have sensitive skin or you have trouble with dandruff, this shampoo and conditioner is a must to try.
It does exactly what you need it to do: cleans your hair naturally, without doing any damage.
I was also pleased to notice that after washing my hair, my face wasn't red and blotchy like it usually is from my regular products. My hair was left feeling, soft, hydrated and non frizzy (bonus).
One of the main things I look for in a body moisturiser is that it absorbs quickly. It is such a pain when you apply moisturiser and have to walk around your house for 10 minutes before getting dressed to avoid the gross feeling of wearing clothes over greasy skin!
The Goat Skincare Moisturising Lotion is light and easy to rub into your skin, so I only needed to use a pump of the lotion per legs, arms and stomach. The natural lotion isn't oily at all and absorbs easily. My skin was left feeling noticeably softer throughout the day.
Forget the idea that you have to spend big to get the ultimate hair & body care, natural and affordable products like the Goat Skincare range can prove to give your hair and skin all the nourishment you need.
It was great to use a natural skincare brand that is not only dedicated to creating highly effective and affordable products, but also are transparent about their products, making me feel reassured that I'm treating my hair and skin to pure products that are ethically made and sustainable.
The Goat Skincare products range from $3.60 - $21.95 and are available at Terry White Chemists, Priceline, Amcal, Pharmacy 4 Less, Wizard Pharmacy Group and Cincotta Chemists nation-wide.
