As a self-titled nail polish expert, it’s not easy for a brand to charm me into devotion for their nail polishes. There’s no nail polish that hasn’t glazed my fingertips. O.P.I, Chanel, Essie, Sally Hansen, Revlon, Maybelline, Mecca Cosmetica, Sportsgirl, Witchery, everything down to the cheap stuff found in Kmart or Priceline.
You name it, I’ve worn it.
Some of these brands have treated me very well, aside from a few premature chips and cracks. If a brand has fabulous colour range I can happily turn a blind eye to these small flaws and rely on my trusting Top Coat to do the trick. Whilst others take at least 3 coats to apply and result in a frustrated perfectionist like myself still seeing an uneven coating. Which is totally self inflicted when opting for a $2 nail polish, I know.
However L’Oreal Paris has won me over with the Infallible Gel Nail range. Officially my favourite nail polish, Infallible Gel Nail is inspired by salon UV gel nails, providing the perfect glossy manicure for only $12.95. When it comes to beauty, I’m all for minimal and efficient maintenance. So when I discovered the Infallible Gel Nail polish not only dried fast but lasted over 14 days, I knew it was a keeper.
This polish is a breeze to apply, with a wide and flat shaped brush allowing for one stroke to coat your whole nail. The size and shape of the brush can make or break the quality of a nail varnish, but L’Oreal Paris has it down pat. The Infallible Nail is a 2 step process, the first coat is the pigment, so thick and vibrant it delivers an opaque colour after only one coat. In case you missed that line I’ll just repeat that… one coat. Only one. When does that ever happen? The second and final coat is a hybrid gel-lacquer tinted in the same colour as the varnish, which sets the colour.
Painting my nails since ’99, it’s been a long journey to find the perfect nail polish. From having mum paint my writing hand to then graduating to painting both hands perfectly at age 11. My nails have since never been left unpainted or chipped. Living most of my life changing polish colours weekly, it’s exciting and relieving to finally own a nail polish that lasts 2 weeks without chips and still maintains intensified colour and shine.
