IT was a night of celebration, sophistication and dazzling fireworks. But, when the team behind hugely-successful e-tailer Sabo Skirt first set out to celebrate the label’s fifth birthday, it was it’s founders – Thessy and Yiota Kouzoukas – who were left in the dark.
The Brisbane babes were kept out of the loop as preparations began to cheers the anniversary of the brand’s inception and look forward to the many highlights this year is yet to bring. Already 2016 has seen the girls featured as part of Forbes first ever 30 Under 30 Asia list and, with exciting plans for new sub-brands and a more “physical presence” it seems the girls’ year is only just getting warmed up.
“Being named among a group of such talented young entrepreneurs has been an incredible way to kick off celebrations for our fifth year in business,” Yiota said.
With your name and brand forever etched in Forbes’ history – not to mention celebrity shoppers including the likes of Gigi Hadid and Vanessa Hudgens – what better way to celebrate a fifth birthday, than an intimate, private party at Brisbane’s Soleil Pool Bar.
Thessy and Yiota got the surprise of their lives on Friday night when they walked into venue to their private party, complete with a fireworks show and attended by some the best home-grown Aussie modelling talent who shot to stardom after being discovered by the brand.
Those invited to the party (Stylehunter was one of the lucky ones) were sworn to secrecy to ensure the girls were truly surprised and … well …. this snap kind of says it all:
With nearly 2 million loyal social media fans, co-founder Thessy Kouzoukas said 2016 marked the start of a new chapter for the brand.
“There are big things in the pipeline this year,” Thessy said.
“We plan to have more of a physical presence both in Australia and abroad. I don’t want to say too much but it’s going to be big – literally!”
Late last year the girls spoke to Stylehunter about the introduction of an Instashop to their website – where fans can shop Sabo Skirt’s beloved range, all through their Instagram account (you can read the full article here).
“Our goal is to remain ahead of the curve, particularly on the social media front,” Thessy said at the time.
“It’s what our customers want and what we’ve promised to deliver from the beginning.”
It’s not hard to see the dedication and drive that Thessy and Yiota have for Sabo Skirt. As 2016 continues to unravel, Stylehunter will be there to bring you all the latest Sabo Skirt news, reviews and interviews.
