Adelaide Casino Adelaide Cup – Adelaide, Maree Stoubos
Always a fun day, I love going to the races because it’s one of the rare opportunities in Adelaide where you can get completely dressed up during the day!
Always a classic and always in when it comes to race wear attire, I opted for the black and white option, wearing a white Story By Tang dress, black Peep Toe booties, a black and white hair piece, and a coral lip for a pop of colour.
There was no real consistency in terms of fashion at the races on Monday with girls wearing anything from patterns, prints, and bold millinery, to block colours, simple outfits, and minimal accessories.
Given that the Adelaide Cup is part of the Autumn Racing Carnival, we should be seeing more winter trends embraced such as gloves, hats rather than fascinators, and longer hem lines, but it was a beautiful 30 degree day so there was a definitely a mix of fashion choices out there.
I watched the Myer Fashions on the Field competition and the final heat was made up of traditional race wear outfits including extravagant millinery, patterns, and elegant, ladylike, feminine dresses, with the winner – Cathrin Gill – sporting a limited edition, high waisted, knee length, floral skirt by Liza Emanuele, silver blouse from overseas, vintage baby pink gloves, a baby pink clutch, and a baby pink and white hair piece, which she made herself. She looked stunning and definitely stood out in the competition.
Myer’s racing ambassador, Rebecca Judd, led the judging panel and as always, she looked amazing. Wearing a Nicola Finetti dress and Arthur Galan shoes, she always gets its right and just oozes style. When asked about the winner, she said she wanted to see someone that made her go ‘wow’ and I think Cathrin Gill certainly did.
