After 24 years in the fashion industry, Australian designer Collette Dinnigan has decided to shut up shop after an unsuccessful attempt at finding a business partner.
By the end of 2013, the influential designer will close her Melbourne, Sydney and London boutiques and will stop producing both the bridal and evening attire for which she is internationally acclaimed.
There will no longer be a twice-yearly runway in Paris, which Dinnigan has held in France since 1995, despite its success at the beginning of the month. An estimated 40 of her 50 staff will lose their jobs however Dinnigan assures the media that financial problems are not the cause of her decision.
Wanting to spend more time with her son, Collette Dinnagin has not ruled out collaborations such as her recent stint with Specsavers, and will continue designing her diffusion line while manufacturing and retailing is handled elsewhere.
