SEEN on the catwalks of Prada, Fendi and Gucci (to name a few), velvet is a divine, heavenly material which is taking the fashion world by storm … again.

It doesn’t matter what look you’re going for – be it glamour, girly, rock-chic, boho or somewhere in-between, velvet will do your outfit justice. With easily accessible online stores such as Topshop and ASOS stocking all things velvet, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be giving this baby a shot.
Here are a few ways to wear this go-to material this season.
A warm, well cut dress
We say warm because to opt for too harsh a colour when wearing velvet would fast transform your look from luxurious to tacky. To achieve a warm feel, opt for a deep emerald, navy or burgundy colour. A word of warning, this achieves an extremely seductive vibe which will 150% have all eyes on you. Love it, rock it – own it!

 A slip dress
Ah, the slip dress. Probably the easiest and most fail-safe way to rock velvet. You don’t need our assistance with this one, you really couldn’t go wrong even if you tried (but don’t try, obviously).
A black, Velvet choker
Because it screams 90’s grunge but also brings the sex appeal of any outfit up by about a gazillion percent.

We love neutral coloured loose minis best. Against your tanned pins, the material will look even more smooth and luxurious (if that’s even possible). Team it with some OTK boots to dress it up or a good pair of sandals to tone it down a little.

Velvet outerwear

Try a classic black blazer or a bomber but remember that you need to be fussy with your colour selection when it comes to Velvet. We’re aiming for divine style – not déjá vu featuring your 10-year-old self’s brave fashion sense (i.e. make a statement, but leave your pink velvet slippers in the past).
