Melbourne Spring Fashion Week Designer Runway Two presented the spring/summer 15 collections from Alice McCALL, Carly Hunter, Kahlo, LIFEwithBIRD, Lui Hon, Manning Cartell, Neo Dia, WILLOW and YB J’AMIE.
Carly Hunter commenced the show with a sleek, almost entirely black and white collection, reviving the draw string to create textured dresses and cinched in waist lines.
Channelling parisian chic, YB J’AMIE’s collection sported embroided tulle and cotton collars, transitioning to silky playsuits and polished blazer/shorts ensembles in contrasting cobalt blue and salmon pink.
Alice McCALL lit up the stage with playful coordinated crops and bottoms, light fabric duster coats and exquisite satin pieces with scalloped hems, all created with a stunning pastel colour pallette.
Reinventing the definition of ‘making a statement’, LIFEwithBIRD featured a bold pink mesh on mesh ensemble amongst knee length skirts and abstract prints.
Manning Cartell brought edgy back with digitally printed striped and floral fabric contrasted with masculine shapes, low hemlines and pleated skirts, using orange as the key burst of colour.
Key trends throughout the night included pastel colour blocking, flowing silhouettes and coordinating two piece outfits. Designers added a twist to the spring/summer looks by playing on texture and opting for fabrics with metallic or shine.
