It’s that beautiful time of year again when the 1st day of spring rolls around, the sun peeps through the clouds, the birds start to chirp and we all have an extra pep in our step.

The start of spring also brings to us Melbourne Spring Fashion Week proudly presented by the City of Melbourne.  A beautiful space in the center of the city where you can see bold new directions, with pop up shops, free runways, workshops, activities and exclusive events. A spring fashion and beauty extravaganza.

One of the wonders behind the scenes is makeup artist and editorial hairstylist, Kenneth Higgins. Kenneth’s career has spanned over 15 years living and working in London, Sydney, Asia and the US. His body of work consists of editorial and advertising, as well as film, music videos and television.

Kenneth has worked with well know Australian faces such as Rose Byre, Elle McPherson, Suzie Poter and Erica Heynetz. He has been involved extensively with the Mercedez Benz/Rosemount Fashion Week and Sydney Hair Expo for many years now, as well as working on shows in London & Paris.

Now, Kenneth has teamed up with the Mecca team working on designer series for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.

This year, simply put, the fashion on the runway was a captivating showcase of high-end, extravagant couture. Featuring Australian labels such as Craig Braybrook Couture, Jason Grech, Carla Zampatti, Aurelio Costarella, Gwendolynne, Nevenka, Rachel Gilbert, Akira, Zhivago and Nicolangela.

To compliment the gorgeous couture, makeup was simple yet dramatic with styles inspired by the Japanese Samurai. Lashings of gold and bold dramatic eyes were in the mix.

Kenneth did not disappoint with his Mecca team on board to create the stunning and captivating calligraphy eye, overpowering the need for any lashings of mascara for extra dramatization. Beautiful clean and clear skin with added shadow ad depth was adorned with glowing highlights. Nude lips were the perfect compliment with a touch of foundation applied to diminish lip skin tone.

Brows were an understated feature with a quick flick of clear brow mascara to sculpt and groom.
