Usually when I’m writing these articles, I like to find a selection of images that show off someone’s style both on and off the red carpet, but since we’re right in the middle of awards season, and I am an absolute sucker for a good gown, I decided this week I’d choose someone who just continually brings it on the red carpet.
Naomi Watts is one of the few people in Hollywood who, either by way of a fantastic stylist or an innate sense of style, has a knack for seemingly never looking anything but polished and glamorous on the red carpet. She knows the silhouettes that work for her and sticks with them, but never feels too much like she’s repeating herself, and her styling is consistently fabulous.
Generally opting for longer, sheath style dresses, Watt’s is rarely seen in a fuller skirt, opting instead for styles that cinch at the waist and fall to full length. But what Watt’s excels at is adding interest to her look – often through an interesting cut-out, a textured fabric, or, in the case of this year’s Golden Globes, an amazing piece of jewelry. Teamed with pared back hair styling and clean, sleek makeup, highlighting a smoky eye or bold red lip to complement her look, her gowns flatter and shine.
Off the red carpet, too, Watts shows a sense of class in her style. She is braver with the shapes and cuts she chooses, but stays ever polished with the same sleek hair style, great make up and well considered accessories that bring her looks together.
There’s been a bit of talk this year about Naomi Watts being Australia’s biggest contender for awards season, having starred in some of the more acclaimed movies of the year, such as Birdman and St Vincent, but when your biggest contender is not only such a consistently great actress, but also such a consistently stylish, classy and well-presented woman, you can’t ask for a whole lot more than that!
