With fabulous Paris Fashion Week in full swing it means the “slightly” smaller LA Fashion Week will be live in just a few weeks. However, fashionistas will have to hang on one more season for the biggest runway the city of angels has seen in years with the announcement of Tom Ford showing his Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week.
Lupita Nyong’o arrives for the 71st Golden Globes Awards show in Tom Ford.
“So many visuals in our world are filtered through Los Angeles, including music, television, and film, and in this way it influences global fashion in a profound way,” Ford said when he made the announcement. “Like fashion, film is also a creative endeavor that is extremely important to me. I am excited to bring these two aspects of my life together by presenting the collection in Los Angeles.”
Tom Ford’s move to Los Angeles feels really natural. Ford has been leaving his mark on Hollywood since his days at Gucci and YSL before going on to design his own collections in 2013. His ties to L.A. include directing his own critically acclaimed film, A Single Man, not to mention teaming up with entertainment heavy weights for red carpets and concerts for years now: dressing music moguls Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, and A-list actresses like Jennifer Lawrence and Gwyneth Paltrow.
It will be interesting to see how fashion journalists and bloggers set their schedules as Ford’s show has been set for February 20 in Los Angeles, which happens to be the first day of London fashion week.
