PRINTS ARE HERE TO STAY
I have never really been a fan of bold, crazy prints… I find patterns too busy on me and often opt for block colours. But I have noticed that diverse prints and patterns are really in at the moment, and so I am starting to warm up to them.
Seen on celebrities, in the shops, and in the magazines – prints are a trend that is here to stay, and are most popular in the forms of floral, geometric, stripes/spots, and animal.
I will never however mix patterns e.g. striped top with floral skirt – that will always be a fashion faux pas in my eyes but if it’s one piece of clothing dominated by prints, I am ok with that.
Only this week I bought a floral high neck dress by Elliatt from Wild Child and I am in love with it. Thinking I’ll wear it with my hair up in a messy bun and bright lips so that the dress does all the talking.
When wearing prints, it’s best to keep everything else simple – minimal accessories, hair worn up or dead straight, soft makeup, and definitely no statement shoes or bags.
If you too are slightly overwhelmed by prints, start off with an animal print piece; whether it be a dress, bag, heels, top, or pants. Animal prints suit most body shapes and skin tones, and oozes a real sexy feel.
