Suboo MBFWA 2012 360 SS Collection Catwalk Show, Kirby Hughes.
In what will be an incredible MBFWA debut, designer of Australian label Suboo, Sue Di Chio, will exhibit a new direction for the beachwear and accessory focused brand.
The Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collection, ‘A Place in the Sun’, is inspired by the lifestyle of Slim Aarons rather than a particular fashion aesthetic.
Su Di Chio plans to utilize her MBFWA debut as a platform to launch the new direction of the Suboo label, which will now include apparel.
The show, which will be held at The Summit, level 47 of celebrity chef Michael Moore’s event, will be styled by Michelle Jank and has attracted the likes of Jesinta Campbell, Michelle Bridges and Carissa Walford.
“Suboo’s journey has been a little unusual. I launched the brand with cool beach umbrellas and quickly grew from that platform due to such a positive response to the label,” said Di Chio.
Suboo was featured in both Fashion Bible and Harpers Bazaar as the ‘must have’ fashion accessory, which helped to build a strong customer base.
“We began introducing new lines every year, now in our sixth year we are excited to debut our ready-to-wear and swimwear ranges at Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week with our creative brand partners – Liz Kelsh from Max Factor, Thomas Ham from Moroccan oil and OPI.”
“It has been a wonderful journey for our customers and for me to see the evolution of our brand and to share our ongoing expansion internationally,” she said.
When it comes to trend predictions for the Spring/Summer 12/13 season, Di Chio predicts icy hues and unexpected highlights on detailing such as emphasis on shoulder straps and seam lines.
“This trend even flows through to influence make-up as daring nail polish colors are creeping into everyday wear and bold lips are breaking up a natural daytime look. Contrasting breaks up icy hues to give pieces edginess without overwhelming the design of the garment,” she said.
We can’t wait to see the Suboo runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, so keep checking in for the full runway review!
