Denim. A universal style language that speaks to us season after season; no wardrobe is considered complete without it. Without a doubt, we all possess a “go to” piece (or three) of denim – “off-duty” style staples that we would literally die without. Whether it’s our favourite pair of boyfriend jeans, a jacket that goes with (almost) everything you own or an inspired denim skirt whose style you stole from Olivia Palermo, denim is an unmistakable fashion force.
We love it it for its versatility, it’s durability and the fact that it does not discriminate by shape, size or personal style. You can wear it with your sneakers or your slides; stilettos and sheer shirts, leather and lace and even your tuxedo jacket – think Cara Develgine for Top Shop‘s A/W14 Campaign.
Denim seems to escape all the fashion rules and while global street style is a constant source of inspiration, designers continue to feature it on the runways and the recent Spring/Summer 2015 collections were no exception.
Alberta Ferretti mixed it up playing with sheer elements; d’squared perfected the style for the street, no interpretation required, and during Milan Fashion week, King Karl perfected denim on denim at Fendi.
But back to the streets; the stage of innovative personal style; the place where fashion is given it’s credibility; let’s see how the style tribes are dressing up their denim:
