It’s that time of the year when winter seems never-ending but you’re SO over winter clothes that you can’t bring yourself to buy any more!
Here in Melbourne we’ve had the coldest July in 20 years and so far there are no signs that Spring is getting any closer so today I’m giving you my top-five items that you can buy now and wear through the end of Winter and well into Spring and Summer.
1. Denim Jackets
A great denim jacket is a wardrobe staple for just about everyone, regardless of age or gender and can easily be worn in any season. In winter rock your denim over a chunky knit, jeggings and boots or with jeans and a hoodie. In Summer chuck it over a floral dress so it’s not so cutesy, or with a fresh white tee for a classic cool look.

Girls have an advantage in the tricky in-between seasons because dresses are so easy to layer up or down depending on the weather. Stock up on merino wool long sleeve tops, singlets and leggings (Toastie kids are having a great sale at the moment) to make sure your little lady is cozy under her pretty dresses and you’re good to go.
In Winter an extra layer makes all the difference to staying warm and a cardigan or light-weight knit jumper are ideal for adding insulation without too much bulk. Cardis are also perfect over summer dresses or tank tops for when the sun’s out but there’s a gentle breeze. My favourite cardigans are from Beau Hudson, they’re great quality and look so cute on boys and girls.

4. Sleeveless Sweats
Another great piece for layering, vests are easy to pair with a long sleeve tee, jacket and jeans for winter and would look equally as great with shorts and bare arms for Summer (show off those toddler muscles!). Minti does a version of the sleeveless sweat every year, and they always have rad prints.

You might just have to accept that it’s jumpers and jackets for a little while longer, but you can switch up your little one’s accessories any time of the year. Hats, backpacks and sneakers are always useful and a great way to add colour and interest to an otherwise dull Winter outfit.
