With school holidays at a near end (mums, we hear your sigh of relief!) it’s time to get back into the swing of things! That means getting ready for a new school year!

Kids – girls in particular – love wearing their hair different ways, especially at school. Soon they will have their new grade photos taken and what better way to show off your child’s beauty than with a new hairstyle!

These easy back to school styles are easy to do and will last the whole day!

The braided bun:

1. Pull hair up into a high pony tail

2. Plait the pony tail and fasted with a small elastic band

3. Wrap the braid around the crown of the head in a circular fashion

4. Pin the end of the braid underneath the bun so that it isn’t visible

5. Add a cute headband and voila!

The fishtail braid:

1. Divide hair into two even sections, parting down the middle.

2. Pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the left section. Pull it over the top of the left section, and grasp it under the right section. This way, the strand of hair has gone over the left section and finished under the right section.

3. Repeat this step from the opposite side. Pull a skinny strand of hair from the outside of the right section, pull it over the right section, then weave it under the left section.

4. Continue this process until you reach the bottom of the braid.

5. Tie the end of the braid with an elastic, ribbon, scrunchie or clip. Whichever your daughter picks for the day!

Braided back:

1. Section out the section of hair that goes from ear to ear and down to the base of the neck.

2. Place the top section of the hair in a clip and set aside for later.

3. Hold head upside down and smooth the hair flat.

4. French braid this section of the hair until it meets the top section.

5. Once the braid is complete, combine with the top section of the hair and place in a ponytail or bun!

Handy tip? These can work for mum too!

Happy hairdressing!
