The iconic Star Hotel celebrated it’s relaunched on Thursday October 8, and this is one venue that will evidently be jam-packed every hot summer’s night. From lunch to late supper menus, the Star Hotel will play host to everything from knock-off drinks to those eleventh-hour food cravings.
Delicious bites were whipped up in the kitchen by celebrated head chef Danny Callen and his team, while the DJ was on point playing the latest sounds mixed with old-school tracks.
With a venue capacity for over 400 guests, the modern dining and entertainment destination consists of a downstairs pub and dining hall, upstairs function room, rooftop terrace and lounge.
The once historic pub has been given a contemporary facelift by building and interior styling experts; Reeb. The four business partners, who’s previous interior fit-outs include The Terminus and Prahran Hotels, have designed an urban, beer-gardenesque decor.
Vibrant green nature walls and astro-turf flooring contrast with industrial furniture. Stunning copper CUB Duo Tank systems house non pasteurised beer directly from the brewery, providing a number of fresh local beers. The extensive bar is backed with a variety of boutique wines and spirits.
Reknowned in the 70’s for being a live music hall with acts including AC/DC, the Star Hotel will continue it’s proud history of music with weekly scheduled sets by Melbourne’s best lounge DJs.
Reeb’s Ben Addison comments on bringing new life to the iconic South Melbourne venue:
“It is a pleasure to be able to redevelop an iconic Melbourne venue in a high profile location to create a top destination for a modern style of dining and socialising that is not yet catered for in the local market. Having dining hours that extend past midnight sets The Star Hotel apart and provides the ideal spot for guests to enjoy a nightcap and complete their evening,” said Addison.
The Star Hotel is located at 160 Clarendon St, South Melbourne. Opening hours are 7 Days a week, 11:30am to 3am with late supper available everyday until 3am.
