The Adidas Stan Smith shoe has been declared a fashion icon by critics around the world.
The simple tennis shoe, originally released in 1971, grew in popularity during the 80’s and 90’s thanks to hip hop and cultural references singing it praise. It has proved itself as a stayer throughout the years by keeping the design simple, clean and a must have to compliment any street wear.
Not usually the first shoe that springs to mind when one thinks of high end fashion, yet multiple designers have added their touch to the shoe including; Ohji Yamamoto, Jeremy Scott and Raf Simons.
The shoe also greatly rose in status after Marc Jacobs was spotted wearing them on multiple occasions, sky rocketing it’s status as a basic but necessary fashionable shoe.
Pharrell Williams even released his own special colour way series of the shoe.
Raf Simons take on the Stan Smith shoe.
Whether you are a fan of the design or not, there is no denying the unassuming tennis shoe has slowly worked it’s way into men’s fashion as a compliment to almost any outfit and a must have for a versatile wardrobe.
