I have designer bags, however these days they’re under my eyes…
When my baby girl entered the picture, sleep, along with my formerly meticulous beauty regime took a swift back seat.
Now I’ve emerged from those early few months of extreme sleep deprivation and nervous worry as a first time Mum, I’ve got a quick and easy routine down-pat.
Tried and tested, these products help me to recharge, ‘fake awake’ and generally feel a little more on top of my game. Here are my current beauty buys on heavy rotation at home:
1) Aspen Hydraderm Sorbolene Moisturising Lotion With Glycerol
In the busy daily routine of changing, feeding, cleaning and caring for my baby, my hands were the first obvious casualty. Yes, I’d gone through copious amounts of hand sanitiser and hand washing, but I was truly shocked to see my 80 year old hands of the future making an early cameo. QV lotion works just as well for you as on bub and is hospital recommended. I found however that Sorbolene lotion promptly whipped my hands back into their rightful decade.
2) Garnier Youthful Radiance Caffeine Eye Roll-On
Anything with the word ‘caffeine’ has currently got my attention! I’m a big fan of this rollerball anti-dark circles and anti-puffiness eye treatment by Garnier. A quick swipe under each eye and voila! I manage to pry my eyes open!
3) Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foam Scrub
I like the tingly cooling sensation of this scrub. Leave it on for a few minutes in the morning until you feel the reviving effect of the microbeads.
4) Redken Smooth Down Detangling Cream
You hear about postpartum hair loss, but what I suffer from is knotted, birdsnest syndrome. I suspect it’s a consequence of my long main being wound in a top knot for sometimes days on end. Yes it’s out of the reach of curious little fingers, but detangling the resulting hybrid dreadlocks is not fun. Thankfully slathering on this Redken detangler helps!
5) MAC Mineralize SkinFinish/Natural
If you just want just a light coverage, I’d recommend this product. You can also apply it as a pressed powder over your regular foundation for a matte finish.
6) L’Oreal Revitalift Rich Make-Up Removing Wipes
These wipes feel luxe with their lovely creamy texture. They leave your skin feeling thoroughly cleansed and refreshed. Perfect for quick multi purpose make up removal or for those occasions when you can’t physically get to the sink!
7) Molton Brown Re-Charge Black Pepper Bodyscrub Bar
The scent of this spicy, woody soap will revive you after yet another sleepless night. Think notes of black peppercorns, bergamot and oakmoss. A two in one bodyscrub soap bar, use it as an exfoliant in the shower or even wash your hands with it for a quick pick me up.
8) Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex
A quality eye serum is an absolute must for your kit. This product aims to fight fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skintone. I stand by Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair products.
9) Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch
It’s no wonder this product has a firm following! The ‘magic wand’ for Mums, you can use it as a highlighter and brightener under the eyes, on the sides of the nose and on the corners of the lips. Use it under or over your make up to restore your Yummy Mummy mojo. Sleep deprived? You?!
10) Napoleon Perdis The One Concealer
This multi purpose concealer works best under the eyes. Use the tiniest amount mixed with your foundation to camouflage dark circles. I was impressed with the result!
