Beautiful beaches, relaxation and local people of a welcoming and friendly culture are the essence of a Balinese luxury getaway. And if Bali is the holiday paradise destination of south-east Asia, then the Oberoi Bali is the jewel in the crown of the beachside resort area of Seminyak.
From the minute that you enter the resort’s lobby, you experience the true luxurious relaxation that is the Oberoi Bali – with sweeping garden views in front of a beachfront vista, you’re greeted with a welcoming ginger iced tea and instant relaxation. Leave your baggage (and your stress!) at the door.
The Oberoi Bali is set along more than 500 metres of prime beachfront stretching the Indian Ocean shoreline, access to the beach is private, and the views are stunning. We visited during the rain season, and the view from the beachside villa of the lightening storm was breathtaking!
The resort is built on expansive grounds with traditional Balinese architecture and lush, tropical gardens– making this walled oasis a world apart from the bustling township of Seminyak.
You’ll find it difficult to leave the gardens, the view, and the people at the Oberoi – the staff is simply beautiful. Our waiter, who had been working there for 26 years (and very clearly loves being part of the Oberoi team), very quickly learned our name (and preferred cocktail too!). The Oberoi staff are friendly and obliging, without exception, going above and beyond to make your stay welcoming, comfortable, and to give you just that little bit extra luxury that you didn’t count on.
Things like the free fruit, sorbet and afternoon tea as you lounge by the pool throughout the day, and take in the local music and dance performances at the poolside amphitheatre. There’s no shortage of extra thought given to making your experience divine.
Where much of Seminyak’s resort lifestyle is about the glitz and glam of modern-day bells and whistles, the Oberoi has a strong sense of local tradition – and the Oberoi Group has maintained the history of the hotel landscape, while still providing the modern day comforts (including excellent Wi-Fi).
The rooms are beautifully equipped in traditional Balinese style with all the right facilities to keep you in true comfort – including a sunken bath, supersonic air conditioning, and space to relax, retreat and unwind.
From the diverse (and pretty exceptional) menus of local and international cuisine to showcase the local produce at the resort’s main restaurant, Kura Kura, through to the traditional Balinese treatments at the resort spa, the Oberoi Bali has truly embraced all things Balinese.
And with more than 1200 reviews on TripAdvisor – most of which describe the Oberoi as ‘luxurious’, ‘elegant’ and the ‘benchmark in Bali’ – it’s no wonder that this hotel is the winner of the TripAdvisor 2015 Traveller’s Choice Award.
We know we’ll be back.
